How to Get Hundreds of Likes With a Facebook Competition

By Guest Author: Rochelle I

Is your Facebook page looking quiet and lacking likes?

Do you feel like you deserve better results and are you wondering how to get more people to like your Facebook fan page?

We were in the same situation.  We set up a Facebook page for our DCI Gemstone Jewellery business.  A few of our Facebook friends liked our page but we were stuck on about 12 likes for months.

We had to do something about this so we decided to run a Facebook competition via a Facebook advert.

We gave away a free gemstone jewellery gift to the winner by entering them into a draw if they liked our Facebook page.  You maybe thinking, but an advert will cost me money!  Well, it didn’t for us!

If you host your own website it’s very likely that you’ve been given free Facebook Ad credit (Note: Bluehost gives a free Facebook ad credit with every new hosting account).

We were given $50 free Facebook advertising credit via a coupon code.  It could only be redeemed if it’s the first time you have ran a Facebook ad on your page, thankfully, this was the case for us.

Like Us Generation

We set up a daily budget of £1 per day and within 2 weeks we got over 250 likes!

Within the first couple of days of running the competition we also posted on our timeline “Gain an extra entry to the competition on our website for a better chance of winning.”

So not only did we get more likes on our page but we obtained several email addresses to start to build a list as numerous people visited our website to enter the competition.

Check Facebook’s promotion guidelines to ensure that your competition is abiding by the rules and won’t get your page banned.

Here are the competition rules directly from official Facebook’s page guidelines page:

If you use Facebook to communicate about or administer a promotion (such as a contest or sweepstakes), you are responsible for the lawful operation of that promotion, including the official rules, offer terms and eligibility requirements (e.g., age and residency restrictions), and compliance with regulations governing the promotion and all prizes offered in connection with the promotion (e.g., registration and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals).

Please note that compliance with these guidelines does not constitute the lawfulness of a promotion. Promotions are subject to many regulations and if you are not certain that your promotion complies with applicable law, please consult with an expert.

i.    Promotions on Facebook must be administered within Apps on, either on a Canvas Page or a Page App.
ii.    Promotions on Facebook must include the following:
a.    A complete release of Facebook by each entrant or participant.
b.    Acknowledgment that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.
c.    Disclosure that the participant is providing information to [disclose recipient(s) of information] and not to Facebook.
iii.    You must not condition registration or entry upon the user taking any action using any Facebook features or functionality other than liking a Page, checking in to a Place, or connecting to your app. For example, you must not condition registration or entry upon the user liking a Wall post, or commenting or uploading a photo on a Wall.
iv.    You must not use Facebook features or functionality as a promotion’s registration or entry mechanism. For example, the act of liking a Page or checking in to a Place cannot automatically register or enter a promotion participant.
v.    You must not use Facebook features or functionality, such as the Like button, as a voting mechanism for a promotion.
vi.    You must not notify winners through Facebook, such as through Facebook messages, chat, or posts on profiles (timelines) or Pages.

EasyPromos is a Powerful App For Promotions

The best promotion app that I have come across is EasyPromos.  I got an hour long live demo of all of the different features of this app and it is seriously powerful.

Here are some of the cool things you can do with the EasyPromos Facebook app:

  • Create promotions that comply with the rules of Facebook.
  • Create exclusive product giveaways and sweepstakes for your fans.
  • Launch picture and video competitions and let users vote for the winner.
  • Design promotions in any language.
  • Evaluate the impact of your promotions.
  • Encourage user engagement.
  • Increase and loyalize your fan base.

True to their name EasyPromos is easy to use so check them out, the first promotion you do with them is free!

Running Competitions Will Get You Results for Months to Come

We continue to get more likes as a friend of someone who has liked DCI Gemstone Jewellery will see that they have liked it in there News Feed so they like the page too!

Since the first one was so successful, we are hoping to do another competition where people will get the chance to choose unique and funky names for some of our jewellery.

The winning prize will go to the person who comes up with the best name, they will get a free gift of their choice.

We hope you have the same success as us and remember, if you have a hosting account, go and check if you have been given free Facebook ad credit!

To your Facebook success!

Hmmm, thanks Sebastian I’ve not heard of trisoical before. I just checked them out and they have a free option and a relatively low monthly plan too. Easy promos is priced per promotion from only $15 upwards depending on the number of fans so both options are worth looking into.
